Things To Do

Relax

Just sit back and enjoy the beauty of this special destination. Sunbathe on the patio and enjoy the countryside views. Picnic on one of the local beaches - Trevone, Harlyn, Treyarnon - or hop over the Camel on the short ferry ride to Rock and Daymer Bay.

Eat and Drink

The Camel Estuary is famous as a foodie destination. Rick Stein and neighbouring chefs have put Padstow very firmly on the culinary map. Cornish produce is being taken to a whole new dimension and it’s the perfect place to sample great food and drink.

Try: Rick Stein’s, Paul Ainsworth at No. 6, The Old Millhouse, Treviskers Kitchen, The Ring O Bells St. Issey, Trevibban Mill Vineyard

Explore

The Camel Estuary and surrounding area is one of Cornwall’s coastal gems. Boasting no less than seven bays, some with historic harbours, all surrounded by lush countryside, this is a place where you can discover new things to see and do over and over again.

Padstow is home to a range of artisan shops, galleries and historic inns.

Cycle the easy and traffic-free Camel Trail along the estuary from Padstow to Wadebridge and back. There are cycle hire shops at either end.

And if you’re looking for popular family attractions there are The Eden Project, Newquay Blue Reef Aquarium and Camel Creek Adventure Park

Golf

Cornwall boasts golf courses to suit all abilities, from tough links courses to friendly 9 hole courses. Challenge yourself on St Enodoc’s fairways which makes the list of England’s top 100 golf courses. Local Trevose, who have hosted a European Seniors Tour event in 2019, has both an 18 hole course and a 9 hole par 3 course. Friendly Treloy golf course has a 9 hole turn up and play course.

Walk

The historic Saints Way is a 27 mile route well signed with Celtic cross markers and takes you across Cornwall from Padstow in the North to Fowey in the South. The path is the probable route of early Christian pilgrims and passes through Little Petherick past St Petroc’s Minor Church.

Or you could try a section of the South West Coast path. It may take more than one holiday to complete the full 630 miles, but it’s worth the hike.

The nearby National Trusts Bedruthan Steps are a stunning place for a walk. There are also many beautiful gardens to explore in Cornwall’s special micro climate. Try the Lost Gardens of Heligan or Trelissick.

Surf

There are many great beaches on the North coast for surfing, body boarding and kite surfing. All within an easy drive from the cottage.

Try: Constantine, Polzeath, Harlyn, Mawgan Porth, Watergate Bay, Fistral Beach.
